On November 5, we reported the death of poet Mansur Jumayev at the age of 33. It has now been confirmed that he died by suicide. Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, provided this information in response to an inquiry from QALAMPIR.UZ.

The investigation revealed that on November 5, 2024, at approximately 7:30 AM, Mansur Torayevich Jumayev was found hanging in his apartment. His wife discovered him and immediately sought emergency medical assistance.

The preliminary cause of death has been identified as "cardiovascular respiratory failure due to strangulation." The district prosecutor's office is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances.

Mansur Jumayev was born on February 17, 1991, in the Mirishkor district of Kashkadarya region. He graduated from the Faculty of International Journalism at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages. In the final days of his life, he worked as the head of the Department of Literary Promotion and Event Organization at the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan.

Jumayev published several poetry collections, including "Oq orzularim", "Hayrat qo'shiqlari", and "Hazrati ishq". His recent work, "Biz kutgan fasl", was published as part of the "Izlam" series.

His poems, such as "Ota yurt," "Oldinda bir yo'l bor…," "Sujud," "Bolalik," "Xatolarim," "Esingdami,aka…," and "Kitobsevar qizga," reflect themes of love for the homeland, country, and humanity. His work resonated deeply with students.

Many of his poems have been translated into Russian, English, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Tajik, Karakalpak, and other languages, and have been published in prestigious international publications.

Throughout his career, Jumayev contributed poems, short stories, essays, and journalistic articles to prominent magazines, including "Yoshlik", "Sharq yulduzi", "Yangi Uzbekistan", "Hurriyat", "Kitob dunyosi", and others. His thought-provoking articles, such as "Xon qizining hovlisida kechgan mushoira" and "Bulbul qachon baland sayraydi?", captured the imagination of readers.

Jumayev’s stories, including "Alfa" and "Arilar ko'zyoshi", were not only featured in Uzbek media but also translated and published in Russian, Azerbaijani, and other languages.

The poet’s funeral was held today, November 6, at 11:00 AM in the city of Karshi.

We also remind you that on September 15 of this year, Bibisora Turobova, a well-known poet and member of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, passed away at the age of 72.
