Precautionary advisory: Weather changes heighten avalanche risks

Due to anticipated precipitation and changing temperatures from April 5 to April 8, a risk of avalanches has been announced in the mountainous regions of Uzbekistan. This warning was issued by Uzhydromet (Uzbekistan’s Hydrometeorological Service).

The avalanche risk has been declared for the following areas located at altitudes of 2,000 meters above sea level:

  • Tashkent Region: Bustonlik, Ohangaron, and Parkent districts (Chotqol Mountain Range).
  • Namangan Region: Pop district’s mountainous areas.

Residents of mountainous regions, travelers, and drivers navigating these areas are urged to take the necessary precautions.

Earlier, it was reported that heavy rainfall from April 4 to April 7 could lead to flash floods and mudflows in nine regions of the republic, including mountainous and foothill areas.
