Uzbekistan brings home 16 children left without guardians in Russia

1614Today, on April 5, 16 minor citizens of Uzbekistan were returned to the country from St. Petersburg, Russia, accompanied by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health. This was reported by the National Agency for Social Protection.
It was noted that during the repatriation process, consular offices of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg and Moscow took all necessary measures to confirm the children’s citizenship and issue them certificates of return.
“The children are currently temporarily placed at the Center for Social and Legal Assistance to Minors under the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent,” the report states.
According to the agency, the children's parents and close relatives met them at the center, where guardianship documents had been prepared in advance by the “Inson” social service centers.
It was added that out of the 16 children brought back, 11 were returned to their parents, while the remaining five were placed under the guardianship of relatives.
For reference, the total number of children returned to Uzbekistan from abroad over the past three months stands at 68.
It should be noted that earlier, 21 children deprived of parental care in Russia had also been returned to Uzbekistan.
