Electricity consumption record broken again in Uzbekistan

Electricity demand in Uzbekistan has increased amid abnormally hot weather, with the country setting a new record for daily consumption. On July 20, electricity consumption in the national power system reached 301.9 million kWh, according to the Ministry of Energy.

The ministry said this figure was 29.3 million kWh, or 10.75 percent, higher than the previous highest consumption level recorded during last summer. It also exceeded the previous record set on July 18 this year by 7.5 million kWh.

According to the data, the system's maximum load reached 14.2 GW during the peak daytime consumption period at 17:22 on the same day.

In addition, electricity generation also reached a record level on July 20, totaling 305.4 million kWh. This was 8.3 million kWh higher than the previous record of 297.1 million kWh recorded on July 18.

The Ministry of Energy noted that despite increased electricity demand caused by high temperatures, the energy system continued to operate stably to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.

At the same time, some technical issues were reported in electricity networks during periods of high demand. Emergency repair teams of energy companies operated in an enhanced mode and quickly resolved the disruptions.

In particular, temporary power outages were recorded in several areas of Tashkent City. In the Sebzor area of Almazar District, 310 consumers were temporarily disconnected, while 1,500 consumers in Yakkasaray and Chilanzar districts, 350 consumers in Yashnabad District, and 300 consumers in Chilanzar District's 1st neighborhood experienced short-term outages. Electricity supply was later restored in all affected areas.

On the morning of July 21, 280 consumers in the Khanabad and Sultonobod streets area of Sergeli District and 320 consumers in the Sebzor and Takhtapul streets area of Almazar District also experienced power interruptions. The faults were repaired and electricity supply was restored.

"Under high-load conditions, the emergency response services of energy companies and organizations are operating in an enhanced mode," the ministry said.

Earlier, it was reported that on July 19, the maximum load on Uzbekistan's unified power system reached 13.8 GW during evening peak hours due to the impact of abnormally hot weather.
