European leaders explore Uzbek culture with Mirziyoyev in Samarkand

7651On April 3, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, European Council President António Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited the “Eternal City” historical and ethnographic complex at the Samarkand International Tourism Center. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
“Guests were introduced to the unique artistic, craftsmanship, and musical culture of our people,” the report stated.
On April 2, António Costa, Ursula von der Leyen, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand to participate in the first high-level “Central Asia – European Union” summit. That evening, Mirziyoyev held an informal meeting with António Costa, followed by a meeting with Ursula von der Leyen on April 3.
Today, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held another meeting with António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen. During their discussions, an agreement was signed to establish a regional office of the European Investment Bank in Tashkent.
A joint tree-planting ceremony was held at the conclusion of the high-level Uzbekistan-European negotiations. Mirziyoyev, Costa, and von der Leyen planted two oak trees in the Congress Center Boulevard in Samarkand.
