Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his support for peaceful negotiations to resolve the situation surrounding Ukraine. He made this statement today, April 4, during the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit.

“Our meeting is taking place amidst rapid and unpredictable global processes.

We are witnessing geopolitical tensions, security challenges, major regional conflicts, and growing social and economic threats to sustainable development,” Mirziyoyev said.

He emphasized that no region can independently solve such complex issues without broad international cooperation.

In this regard, the President noted that Central Asia and the European Union have been traditional partners, and the need for close collaboration is steadily increasing. Mirziyoyev also reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to the principles and norms of international law, aligning with Europe’s stance.

“We welcome and fully support the initiation of negotiation processes aimed at peacefully resolving the situation surrounding Ukraine. We understand that there are highly complex and challenging issues ahead.

However, we see no alternative path other than diplomatic efforts and political decision-making,” the President stated.
