Uzbekistan welcomes Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif

Today, February 26, a formal ceremonial welcome was held at the International Congress Center in Tashkent for Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit. This was reported by the press service of the President.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and invited him to the podium. The military orchestra performed the national anthems of both countries.

The leaders then reviewed the guard of honor and introduced the members of their respective official delegations.

Following a joint photo session, narrow-format negotiations commenced.

The agenda of the discussions includes the further development and expansion of the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership, boosting mutual trade volume, enhancing transport connectivity and transit potential, and promoting cooperation in the light and leather industries, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, and other economic sectors. Additionally, the visit will focus on strengthening cultural, humanitarian, and tourism ties, as well as exchanging views on current international and regional issues.

After the summit, a Joint Declaration and several bilateral agreements are expected to be signed. Furthermore, as part of the business program of the visit, the leaders will also participate in the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Joint Business Forum.
