Erdogan says committed to further strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who turned 68 on July 24, on his birthday. This was reported by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.

“Dear Mr. President, my dear brother! I sincerely congratulate you on your birthday and wish you, Your Excellency, good health and peace from the Creator,” Erdogan said.

In his congratulatory message, Erdogan expressed his commitment to further strengthening cooperation on bilateral and multilateral platforms, particularly within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, to ensure the prosperity and development of the Turkic world amid global challenges.

“It gives me immense pleasure that this same determination is shared by you, my dear brother. I would like to take this opportunity to once again congratulate you, Your Excellency, on your birthday and wish you continued success in your efforts for the development and peace of the friendly and fraternal Uzbek people,” said the Turkish leader.

For your information, today, July 24, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, turned 68. He was born in 1957 in the Zamin district of the Jizzakh region into a family of doctors. He graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers in 1981 with a degree in mechanical engineering and holds the title of Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor.

Mirziyoyev began his career at the same institute, later serving as a junior researcher, senior lecturer, associate professor, and vice-rector for academic affairs. He was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic in 1990 and served as chairman of the Mandate Commission. In 1992, he became khokim of the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent, later heading the Jizzakh and Samarkand regions between 1996 and 2003, contributing significantly to their socio-economic development.

From 1995 to 2003, Mirziyoyev was also a deputy of the Oliy Majlis, actively participating in legislative reforms. In 2003, he was appointed Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, a position he was re-approved for three times—in 2005, 2010, and 2015.

He won the presidential elections in 2016, 2021, and 2023 and has been serving as President of Uzbekistan since then.

Earlier, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his father, national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, also congratulated Mirziyoyev. Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized Mirziyoyev’s role in strengthening the strategic partnership with Russia. Chinese President Xi Jinping noted his special attention to relations with Uzbekistan, while Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev praised Uzbekistan’s achievements under Mirziyoyev’s leadership.
