24496A man wanted for misusing a loan of more than 2 billion soums intended for livestock purchases was discovered hiding in the basement of his father-in-law’s house in Jizzakh. This was reported by the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) of the Jizzakh region.
The 36-year-old resident of the "Ravallik" neighborhood in Jizzakh had taken out a loan of 2 billion 150 million soums from a commercial bank in 2022 to purchase 125 head of cattle. However, instead of using the funds for the intended purpose, he diverted the money elsewhere. As a result, a criminal case was opened against him on March 4, under Article 167 of the Criminal Code, which deals with embezzlement and fraud.
After an investigation by the DIA’s Tezkor service, his location was uncovered, and he was found hiding in the basement of his father-in-law's house in the "Akkorgonlik" neighborhood of Jizzakh. He has since been placed in temporary detention.
This incident is similar to a previous case in the Buloqbashi district of Andijan, where the car of a groom, who took a loan in his mother-in-law’s name and failed to repay the debt, was impounded by authorities.
