16833Students with a GPA above 3.5 can now apply for a state grant, according to the newly approved Regulation on the Procedure for Providing and Redistributing Grants to Students in Higher Education Institutions. The regulation was adopted through a relevant government resolution.
Under the new rules, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the academic year to be eligible for an educational grant. Those with lower GPAs will not be considered for the differentiated redistribution of grants, and the unallocated grant places will remain vacant.
Applicants can register online through their university’s official website and upload supporting documents verifying their academic achievements.
The selection process involves a scoring system, where applicants’ academic performance is assessed on an 80-point scale—determined by multiplying their GPA by 16. Additionally, social activity is evaluated on a 20-point scale, calculated by dividing the applicant’s assessment score by 5.
“In cases where multiple applicants achieve the same academic score, priority will be given to those with a higher mastery indicator. If applicants still have identical scores, they will be required to take tests in their specialized subjects from previous semesters,” the regulation states.
Each year, by August 25, universities will publish the list of students awarded state grants on their official websites, based on the decision of the institution’s council.
It is important to note that state grants are no longer allocated to a single student for four consecutive years. Instead, they are redistributed annually among high-achieving students. This means that a student receiving a grant may lose it if their academic performance declines, while a contract student with outstanding grades may qualify for a grant the following year.
