Court case opens against a person suspected of killing 5 people in Yangiyol

A criminal case has begun today, November 15, against a man accused of killing five family members and setting fire to their home in Yangiyol district, Tashkent region, in July of this year. Aziz Obidov, a spokesperson for the Supreme Court, confirmed the start of the trial.

At the Tashkent Regional Court, the suspect, identified as Z.S. from Namangan region, born in 1995, was charged under several sections of the Criminal Code: 97 (intentional murder), 118 (defamation), 134 (desecration of a grave), 164 (invasion), and 173 (intentional destruction of property). The case is being heard in a closed court session as per Article 19 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

"Additional information will be provided at the conclusion of the trial," said the Supreme Court spokesperson.

How did the incident happen?

On July 26, at 06:19, authorities received a report of a fire at an apartment on Nurafshon Street in Yangiyol District. Firefighters from the Yangiyol District Fire and Rescue Department extinguished the blaze.

Upon inspection, the bodies of five individuals were discovered: a man born in 1991, a woman born in 1999, two children born in 2021 and 2022, and a girl born in 2018. The victims were identified as a couple, their two children, and a niece.

The suspect, a 29-year-old relative of the victims, was detained in connection with the crime. Preliminary reports suggest that the killings were motivated by a debt dispute between the suspect and the family.
