Blogger known as “Abdullah” arrested over provocative social media posts (video)

58394Blogger Yugay Valeriy, known by his alias “Abdullah,” has been arrested, according to Bobur Tulaganov, press secretary of the Main Department of Internal Affairs.
Reports indicate that the 26-year-old resident of the Tashkent region, who is active on social media under the name "Abdullah," made a series of offensive statements while in the Republic of Korea in October-November 2024. These remarks, posted on his public social media pages, were deemed to potentially provoke interethnic conflict, insult national values, and discriminate against citizens based on their religious beliefs.
According to the received information, Valeriy was brought back to Uzbekistan on March 24 this year aboard an Abu Dhabi-Samarkand flight. He was subsequently detained by law enforcement in accordance with legal procedures. A precautionary arrest has been imposed.
"I, Yugay Valery, insulted our people on social media. I did it all for personal gain and recognition. But now, having fully understood the consequences, I deeply regret my actions. I sincerely apologize to everyone. I truly regret it. Please forgive me," Valeriy stated.
A criminal case has been initiated against Yugay Valeriy under relevant provisions of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, a blogger in Surkhandarya who promoted early marriage was fined four times the minimum wage.
