Reports have surfaced on social media that officers of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau in the Andijan region posed as a woman and organized a “special meeting” to catch a man evading alimony payments. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted Farrukh Toshpulatov, the press secretary of the CEB (Compulsory Enforcement Bureau), to clarify the situation.

According to Toshpulatov, the man, a resident of the Shakhrikhan district, had been avoiding financial support for his minor child for over a year, accumulating a debt of 31 million soums. Officers from the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau began a romantic conversation with him on Telegram, posing as a woman, and invited him to meet at a café. The father was detained on August 1 when he showed up for the “meeting.”

Earlier, similar incidents involving alimony evaders were reported across Uzbekistan. In Fergana, a man was arrested after hiding behind a curtain to avoid paying alimony. Last year, others were found hiding under blankets in Kashkadarya, in basements in Namangan and Surkhandarya, at a chicken farm in Khorezm, in a nightclub in Fergana, at an aunt’s house in Andijan, and at a grandmother’s home in Bukhara. In another case in Surkhandarya, a father evading child support was arrested at his brother’s wedding. In the Andijan region, another man was found hiding behind a piece of slate in the unfinished part of his home.
