Law enforcement authorities in the Jizzakh region have detained fraudsters attempting to sell counterfeit money. The incident was reported by UzA.

During an operational raid, three residents of the Fergana region were caught red-handed while trying to sell counterfeit banknotes totaling 998 million 740 thousand sums in exchange for 27,200 US dollars.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the counterfeit banknotes, in denominations of 200,000, 100,000, and 20,000 sums, were produced using a spray printer.

"Investigation actions are underway," the report states.

It should be noted that a similar incident occurred in May this year when a citizen in the Chust district was detained for selling counterfeit US dollars for real currency. A criminal case was opened under Article 176 of the Criminal Code, which deals with the production and circulation of counterfeit money, excise stamps, or securities.
