Precinct commissions holding referendums on constitutional amendments will be established at the diplomatic and other representative offices of Uzbekistan in foreign countries.  This was stated at the meeting of the Central Election Commission.

The work plan of the Central Election Commission for the second half of 2022 was widely discussed and approved at the meeting.

Preparation for the referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is planned to be held in the second half of the year, and its organization at a high level, was determined to be the priority task of the Central Electoral Commission.

In connection with the constitutional reforms being carried out in the country, issues related to careful preparation for the referendum held in the republic were also considered.

In order to regulate the activities of observers in the referendum processes and ensure their rights, the procedure for the activities of observers from foreign countries and international organizations participating in the referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the activity of observers from political parties, citizens' self-government bodies and citizen's initiative groups statutes have been adopted.

Also, taking into account the active participation of citizens who are abroad in the previous elections, in order to make it easier for them to vote in the referendum, the regulation on the procedure for the establishment of precinct commissions holding referendums at the diplomatic and other representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign countries was approved.

It should be recalled that on 24 June of this year, the draft constitutional law "On Amendments and Additions to the constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was adopted by the MPs in the first reading.  In the Legislative Chamber, a relevant decision was also made to put the draft law up for public discussion.

In addition, the draft of the constitutional law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Amendments and Additions to the constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan" prepared as a result of the public discussion was submitted to the referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

However, due to the demonstrations that took place in Karakalpakstan in early July, the deadline for the discussion of the draft constitutional law on amendments and additions to the constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was extended from 5th to the 15th July.
