The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has approved a new procedure for obtaining medications free of charge from pharmacies based on electronic prescriptions.

Under the regulations governing the reimbursement program for outpatient treatment, doctors will issue electronic prescriptions for patients through the medical information system. Each electronic prescription can include up to three medications for a specific diagnosis.

The validity of an electronic prescription is set at 7 days from the date of issuance. Once the prescription is approved by established procedures, it will be sent electronically to pharmacies that have contractual agreements with the reimbursement fund. Patients will also receive an SMS notification containing the prescription number and date on their registered mobile phone.

Through this reimbursement program, the costs of medications provided by participating pharmacies will be covered by the fund, based on the invoices that reflect the prices of the prescribed drugs.

This program aims to facilitate access to necessary medications for patients undergoing outpatient treatment, ensuring that the costs of these medicines are effectively managed.
