In 2024, over 238 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances seized in Tashkent

In 2024, law enforcement agencies in Tashkent seized more than 238 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances, according to the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs.

The department reported that a total of 3,447 criminal cases were initiated in the capital related to the illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and other strong drugs. Notably, 70 percent of these crimes—2,413 cases—were linked to the Internet. As a result of ongoing efforts, 238.8 kilograms of illicit substances were seized, halting their illegal trafficking.

To further combat drug-related crimes and prevent violations in the city, a month-long series of special operational and preventive measures, titled “Safe and Healthy Capital,” was launched on January 15, 2025. This initiative will run until February 15.

During this period, authorities will intensify nighttime raids and focus on identifying offenses such as the possession of sharp objects and prohibited items, the distribution of narcotics, and involvement in “narcograffiti.” Legal actions will be taken against those found in violation.

Earlier, individuals involved in transporting narcotics from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan were apprehended in the Urgut district of the Samarkand region and subsequently sentenced.
