A large-scale operation, “Safe Zone,” is being conducted in the Tashkent region to combat crimes involving drugs, weapons, and other illegal activities. This was reported by the Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

The operation has uncovered 266 cases related to narcotics and psychotropic substances, resulting in the seizure of 123.8 kilograms of illegal drugs. For example, during a raid in Chinoz district on February 12, a resident of Qashqadaryo region, born in 1993, was caught transporting 398 grams of hashish hidden in a vehicle. The operation also targeted human trafficking. Eight individuals attempting to traffic women and girls abroad for exploitative purposes were apprehended with evidence. This intervention prevented five women from becoming victims of human trafficking. Notably, a woman from Olmaliq city, born in 1998, was caught at Tashkent International Airport attempting to illegally transport a girl born in 2006 to Turkey. A criminal case was opened under Article 135 of the Criminal Code.

In the fight against crimes affecting public health and morality, 13 cases of spreading HIV/AIDS were identified, and legal measures were taken to prevent further transmission. Additionally, 85 cases of brothel management or facilitation and 16 cases of prostitution were uncovered, with all individuals involved held accountable under the law.

The operation also addressed organized crime, identifying 27 cases involving illegal weapon possession, extortion, and the establishment of gambling dens. Legal actions were taken against all suspects.

Law enforcement emphasized that such operations will continue to ensure the rule of law, maintain public order, and strengthen peace and security in the region.
