Law enforcement agencies in the Samarkand and Tashkent regions have seized 111 kg of narcotics during a series of operational operations, as reported by the State Security Service.

In Samarkand, three Tajik citizens—brothers born in 1980, 1982, and 1989—were detained after attempting to smuggle 10 kg 894 grams of opium from the Panjikent district of Tajikistan to the Urgut district in Uzbekistan via roundabout routes. Further investigation led to the detention of their accomplice, a woman born in 1982 from Urgut, who had 13 kg 85 grams of opium stored in her apartment. A criminal case has been initiated, and detention has been applied as a preventive measure.

Meanwhile, in Tashkent, authorities uncovered a significant amount of drugs along the Uzbek-Tajik border, specifically in the Bekabad district. Three containers of glue, discharged through the Dalvarzin canal from Tajikistan, were found to contain 8 kg 381 grams of opium and 59 kg 296 grams of hashish. Four individuals—born in 1985, 1989, 1996, and 1997 from Bekabad—were detained as they attempted to retrieve the drugs. Two of them had previous convictions. A criminal case has been filed under Part 2 of Article 246 (Smuggling) and Part 5 of Article 273 (Illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and trafficking of narcotics) of the Criminal Code, with detention applied.

In a separate case in Bekabad district, 3 kg 942 grams of opium and 15 kg 473 grams of hashish were discovered in a sports bag left in a field about 400-500 meters from the Uzbek-Tajik state border. The drugs were seized and a criminal case has been initiated under Part 5 of Article 273. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for leaving the drugs.

It is also important to note that earlier, a citizen was detained in Dalahovli, Tashkent region, for organizing a marijuana cultivation lab. Authorities seized 200 marijuana plants and approximately 5 kg of dried marijuana powder, which were temporarily detained as evidence.
