Assistant mayor in Tashkent region was arrested for a bribery

An assistant mayor from the Tashkent region has been apprehended for accepting a bribe in exchange for helping a citizen secure a loan. This case was reported by UzA News.

According to reports, the assistant mayor, who worked in a neighborhood in the Buka district of Tashkent, was attempting to assist a citizen with obtaining a 120 million soum preferential loan through the "Mahalla Yettiligi" program. This program, which aims to improve housing conditions for citizens, recommended the individual for the loan. The official was caught in the act while receiving a bribe of 5 million 200 thousand soums from the citizen in exchange for facilitating the loan. The material evidence was seized during the operation.

It has also been revealed that the assistant mayor had been previously convicted of another offense, but no lessons were learned from that case.

In another similar case, a criminal investigation was launched against an assistant mayor in the Navoi region who was accused of embezzling 200 million soums.
