Archive manager of Higher Judicial School arrested for accepting bribe

An individual working as the archive manager at the Higher Judicial School has been arrested on bribery charges. The news was confirmed by the press service of the Supreme Judicial Council.

According to the report, the individual, identified as A.S., was employed at the institution on a part-time basis (0.5 workload). He was apprehended while receiving a bribe of $5,000 in exchange for assisting in the cancellation of a part of the sentence imposed on a previously convicted person—specifically, the deprivation of certain rights—through his alleged connections.

The Council emphasized that claims in some media reports describing the arrested individual as an official of the institution and suggesting that the offense was committed in connection with his official duties are inaccurate.

For context, it is worth recalling that a lawyer in the Surkhandarya region was also arrested earlier for offering a bribe to a judge in an attempt to influence the outcome of a criminal case appeal.
