8618The critical and analytical materials provided on construction, ecology, environmental protection, road safety, and social and economic issues are rousing some leaders and officials from their complacency, prompting them to address public concerns and engage more actively in their duties. This was highlighted in the message from President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the press and media workers.
"First of all, I would like to sincerely congratulate you, the supporters of our national journalism, who have been serving our country with your talent, skills, and selfless work, and our esteemed veterans who have made significant contributions to the development of the industry, on June 27 - the Day of Press and Mass Media Workers. I extend my heartfelt congratulations, respect, and best wishes to you all," the President's message begins.
Mirziyoyev emphasized that today, the role and influence of mass media representatives in fostering openness and transparency in society, establishing public oversight of state agencies and their officials, and addressing citizens' legal appeals are growing.
"At this juncture, it should be noted that our newspapers, magazines, TV and radio channels, and social networks have significantly increased the number of substantial presentations on various topics, programs, and broadcasts featuring experts discussing problematic issues, analytical comments, and debates," the President's message stated.
It was noted that all of this indicates that the national media are approaching the status of the "fourth estate."
"Today, the work of the press and the activities of journalists are becoming not only the "fourth estate" but also a critical sector comparable to defense and security. This field requires more brave and courageous individuals like you, who truly love the Motherland and are dedicated to their profession," the congratulatory message continued.
It was also noted that based on this need, the training of modern journalists with diverse professional knowledge and skills, as well as high spiritual and intellectual qualities, will remain a priority.
"At the same time, it is clear to all of us that the issue of filling the information space with high-quality and competitive national content is becoming more urgent than ever.
Therefore, I believe it is very important to cover global events considering our national interests, based on quick and thorough analysis," Mirziyoyev stated.
Furthermore, the increasing instances of deceiving people and leading them astray with false and baseless information make enhancing the media literacy of the population an urgent task. Disputes and issues arising in the information field must be resolved solely within the framework of the law and based on legal norms.
