Today, April 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received former British Prime Minister and Chairman of the Institute for Global Change, Tony Blair. The meeting was reported by the President’s press service.

During the talks, the sides discussed the development of practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the influential international organization led by Blair.

"Tony Blair highly appreciated the progress and scale of the reforms being carried out to build a New Uzbekistan and expressed his readiness to provide expert advisory support to further promote these efforts," the statement noted.

Key areas of cooperation highlighted during the meeting included attracting major strategic investors to various sectors of the economy, accelerating technological modernization, advancing digitalization and artificial intelligence, and implementing joint programs and projects in priority areas.

For reference, the Institute for Global Change was established in 2016 by Tony Blair. It is an international non-profit organization that supports countries in developing innovative and sustainable development models, addressing climate change, and tackling other contemporary global challenges.

It is worth recalling that President Mirziyoyev previously met with Tony Blair on November 12 last year on the sidelines of the COP-29 summit in Baku. At that meeting, the two discussed the future of Uzbek-British relations and the potential for practical cooperation with the Institute for Global Change.
