6820A recent investigation into the Ministries of Transport, Preschool and School Education, and Culture, along with their affiliated organizations, revealed that 107 management employees are involved in 116 business entities. This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Agency.
It was found that 50 management employees from the Ministry of Transport are working in 55 business entities, 37 from the Ministry of Preschool and School Education in 39 business entities, and 20 from the Ministry of Culture in 22 business entities.
According to the report, submissions made by the Anti-Corruption Agency to these ministries were critically reviewed. As a result, warning letters were issued to the employees involved in establishing business entities, and efforts to address these legal violations are ongoing.
For reference, under Article 4 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Guarantees of Freedom of Entrepreneurial Activity," state bodies (except in cases provided by law), their officials, and other legally prohibited persons are not permitted to operate business entities.
Additionally, Article 13 of the Law "On State Civil Service" restricts state civil servants from engaging in entrepreneurial activities, organizing businesses, or being founders (participants) of such entities. It also limits them from performing managerial or administrative-economic tasks related to entrepreneurial activity while serving in the civil service.
It should be noted that earlier, it was revealed that 398 officials from three ministries were involved in business activities.
