Samarkand energy sector: Seven employees detained for corruption during meeting

30105Seven employees were detained during a critical meeting on corruption in the energy sector held in Samarkand. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prosecutor General Shohrukh Aminov, took place on February 14, focusing on corruption issues within the Samarkand region's energy sector. The aim was to transform the sector into a “corruption-free” environment. The meeting was attended by officials from various energy companies, including the Samarkand region, district, and city branches of "Regional Electric Networks" and "Hududgaztaminot."
During the meeting, seven employees from supply enterprises were detained after being accused of involvement in corruption-related crimes. As part of the ongoing efforts to prevent corruption, the heads of supply enterprises were instructed to implement major reforms within the sector, strictly enforce labor discipline, and reinforce preventive measures among employees.
It is worth noting that earlier, the deputy mayor of Chirchik City in the Tashkent region was arrested after demanding $2 million from his driver in exchange for facilitating an auction for land ownership.
