Uzbek leader visits Malaysia’s Iconic Twin Towers, discusses cooperation

On February 5, during his business program in Kuala Lumpur, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, visited the world-famous Twin Towers, which house the headquarters of Petronas — the President's press service reported on the visit.

Discussions focused on fostering mutually beneficial cooperation with Petronas, a global leader in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and renewable energy sectors.

President Mirziyoyev expressed support for promising projects aimed at deep processing raw materials and implementing "green" energy initiatives.

Key priorities identified during the meeting included geological exploration, the development of promising hydrocarbon deposits, the introduction of advanced carbon capture and storage technologies, and the training of highly qualified specialists through Petronas University.

It is worth noting that President Mirziyoyev arrived in Malaysia on an official visit on the evening of February 4. At Kuala Lumpur International Airport, he was welcomed by Speaker of the House of Representatives Johari bin Abdul, Minister of Education Zambri Abdulkadir, and other officials. The President also held a meeting with the Speaker at the airport.
On February 5, an official welcoming ceremony was held for President Mirziyoyev at the Perdana Putra government complex in Kuala Lumpur. He and Prime Minister Ibrahim held talks both in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegations. Following the discussions, the two leaders signed a joint statement on deepening bilateral cooperation through a strategic partnership.
Additionally, Mirziyoyev visited the Malaysian Museum of Islamic Arts, where Uzbek artisans contributed to the interior decoration and restoration of the museum’s dome.
