Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmenistan's national leader and Chairman of the People's Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, planted an oak tree together in the Honorary Guests Alley at the Congress Center in Samarkand. The event was reported by the Uzbek President's press service.

The ceremony was described as a symbol of the centuries-old friendship and good-neighborly ties between the two fraternal nations, as well as their commitment to further developing a strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Samarkand on April 23. He was warmly welcomed at the Samarkand International Airport, which was adorned with the flags of both nations, by President Mirziyoyev. As part of the events in Samarkand, the two leaders visited the Hazrati Khizr Complex to pay tribute to Uzbekistan's First President, Islam Karimov. They then participated in cultural activities at the "Silk Road Samarkand" International Tourism Center, specifically in the "Eternal City" Historical-Ethnographic Park.

On April 24, Mirziyoyev and Berdimuhamedov held bilateral negotiations in Samarkand. Following the talks, Berdimuhamedov was presented with Uzbekistan's highest state award—the "Order of Supreme Friendship"—in a formal ceremony. While presenting the award, Mirziyoyev emphasized Berdimuhamedov’s significant contributions to strengthening traditional friendship, good-neighborly relations, and strategic partnership between the two nations.
