Mirziyoyev reveals his goals for Afghanistan

The head of Uzbekistan wants to make Afghanistan a country free from terrorism, war, and drugs.  Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about this in his address to the participants of the international conference held in Tashkent today, 26 July.

The head of state drew attention to the importance of Afghanistan's integration into interregional economic processes.

"Recently adopted by the UN General Assembly, the special resolution on strengthening the interdependence between South and Central Asia also confirmed that maintaining peace in Afghanistan is extremely important for ensuring international security.", said President Mirziyoyev.

He noted that the entire international community should show solidarity with the Afghan people.

"We must mobilize our efforts to create a solid foundation for making Afghanistan a peaceful, stable, and prosperous country, free from terrorism, war, and narcotics.  The task of restoring the Afghan economy should become our common priority, it is an important way to establish lasting peace in the Afghan land.  This direction includes, in particular, the integration of this country into interregional economic processes, the implementation of projects related to infrastructures and of social importance," - the President said.

It should be recalled that Mirziyoyev, during this conference, called on the current Afghanistan government to prevent and fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism and to sever ties with all international terrorist organizations.  The head of state also asked the international community to encourage and support the efforts of the Afghan authorities to rebuild the country after the conflict, to build an independent, stable and self-sufficient state.
