3836Authorities in Surkhandarya detained a man who had been evading alimony payments for years, tracking him down at his brother’s wedding. This was reported by UzA.
According to the report, the court had ordered A.Q. to provide financial support for his minor child in July 2020. However, he failed to fulfill his obligation, accumulating nearly 36 million soums in unpaid alimony. In August last year, he was sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention for non-compliance but continued to evade his financial responsibilities.
The Surkhandarya regional department of the Enforcement Bureau launched a criminal case, suspecting that A.Q. was deliberately avoiding payments. A search operation was conducted in coordination with law enforcement, leading to his arrest at a lavish wedding hall in Termez.
"He was found and arrested while enjoying the festivities. Realizing the legal consequences, A.Q. ultimately paid the full amount of his outstanding alimony," the report states.
Earlier, a similar case was reported in Fergana, where another father attempting to avoid alimony payments was sentenced to imprisonment.
