European leaders plant oak trees in Samarkand

8324Today, April 3, a joint tree planting ceremony was held in Samarkand following the high-level Uzbek-European talks. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the European Council António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen planted two oak trees in the square of the Congress Center in Samarkand.
“The tree planting ceremony became another symbol of the ever-strengthening friendship, multifaceted cooperation, and partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union,” the report says.
It should be recalled that yesterday, April 2, President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand to participate in the first high-level summit in the "Central Asia - European Union" format. On April 2, Mirziyoyev met with President of the European Council António Costa in the evening, and today, April 3, with Ursula von der Leyen.
Today, April 3, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, also arrived in Samarkand.
Today, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen. An agreement was signed in their presence to establish a regional office of the European Investment Bank in Tashkent.
