Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov is reportedly on the verge of leaving Roma to join Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir. The Roma press reported this.
According to the publication, the transfer is nearly complete, with a preliminary agreement reached between Basaksehir, Roma, and Shomurodov himself.
Although the Uzbek striker still has one year remaining on his contract with Roma, he has been on the list of players expected to leave the club since the end of last season.
Shomurodov made a total of 37 appearances for Roma last season, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists. The club is currently working to streamline its squad and boost revenues to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations, and Shomurodov’s departure would contribute to that goal.
It was previously reported that Rennes’ sporting director, Florian Maurice, had sent an inquiry to Roma regarding the 29-year-old striker. In addition, the Italian side, Cremonese, was also said to be interested in acquiring his services.
