Top destinations for Uzbek students studying abroad

9929Between January and September 2024, a significant number of Uzbeks chose to study in Tajikistan, according to the Statistics Agency.
During this period, 30,400 Uzbek citizens went abroad for education—a 3.2% increase (or 952 more students) compared to the same period last year.
Here is a breakdown of Uzbek students studying abroad by country for the first nine months of this year:
- Tajikistan: 11,409 students
- Russia: 7,301 students
- Kyrgyzstan: 2,845 students
- Turkey: 2,195 students
- South Korea: 1,839 students
- Kazakhstan: 1,372 students
- United Kingdom: 693 students
- China: 672 students
- United States: 486 students
- United Arab Emirates: 295 students
- Other countries: 1,292 students
Previously, it was reported that Uzbekistan also hosts a growing number of foreign students. At the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, 10,845 international students were enrolled in Uzbekistan's higher education institutions.
