Boxers from Uzbekistan won 9 medals and 450,000 US dollars at the World Cup

The World Boxing Championship in Tashkent is reaching a decisive stage.  On 10th of May, the quarter-finals of the competition took place.  A total of 11 Uzbek boxers entered the ring for the semi-finals.

All 5 Uzbek boxers who fought during the daytime program won.  Hasanboy Dosmatov, Abdumalik Khalokov, Ruslan Abdullayev, Saidjamshid Jafarov and Lazizbek Mullojhonov will now advance to the semi-finals.

During the evening program, Oybek Jorayev, Asadkhoja Moydinkhojayev, Alokhan Abdullayev and Bahadir Jalolov beat their opponents and also proceeded next stage.

It is worth noting that some well-known boxers in the championship were defeated by Uzbek boxers in the quarter-finals.  In the -51 kg category, Hasanboy Dosmatov beat the current world champion Tomoya Suboi from Japan, and in the -92 kg category, Lazizbek Mullojhonov beat Cuban Cesar La Cruz, who is both 5-time world champion and 2-time Olympic champion.

A total of 9 Uzbek representatives moved forward to the semi-finals, with "students" of Tolqin Qilichev gaining the best results.  Each participant who has reached the semi-finals will receive at the very least a bronze competition medal and 50 thousand US dollars.

The World Cup will continue until 14th May.  The semifinals of the tournament will be held on 12 May.
