Uzbek boxer to compete for IBA belt

6877Uzbekistan’s professional boxer Saidjamshid Jafarov is set to compete in the IBA Champions Night on January 31. This was announced by the press service of the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan.
Jafarov will face Russia’s Dmitriy Zakharov in a six-round fight in the 71 kg weight category. The bout, hosted at the Lujniki Complex in Moscow, will determine the "IBA Pro European Champion."
The event’s co-main fight features a heavyweight clash between Belgium’s Jack Mulowayi, a former opponent of Bahodir Jalolov, and Russia’s Artem Suslenkov. The winner of this ten-round bout will also claim the "IBA Pro European Champion" title.
The evening’s main event will showcase a super heavyweight contest between Russian Muslim Gadzhimagomedov and South Africa’s Thabiso Mchunu. This ten-round fight will award the "IBF Europe" belt to the victor.
For reference, Saidjamshid Jafarov’s last fight took place on November 30, 2024, at a tournament organized by RCC Boxing Promotions in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In his professional debut, Jafarov, a former amateur world champion, defeated Russia’s Gor Oganesyan by points.
The upcoming fight marks another milestone in Jafarov’s promising professional boxing career, as he aims to secure his first international title.
