The scheme of illegal import of Russian wheat for export to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan under the guise of Kazakhstani products was exposed. This was reported by the press service of the Financial Monitoring Agency of Kazakhstan.

It is noted that the scheme of illegal import of Russian wheat under official contracts was discovered in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan.

"In 2021-2022, the identified citizen exported 26,000 tons of Russian wheat to the countries of Central Asia (Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) using false invoices claiming the origin from Kazakhstan, with a value of more than 1 billion tenge. This allowed him to evade payment of fees for transportation of cargo, with a total value of 460 million tenge, according to the international transit tariff," the agency said.

It is worth mentioning that the Senate of Kazakhstan is also aware of the existence of a stable scheme of illegal import of Russian wheat using false documents and subsequent export to third countries under the guise of Kazakh products. The parliament did not rule out a significant increase in the number of cases of fake imports and re-exports, especially considering the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.

For information, Astana has asked Uzbekistan to consider the possibility of providing basic tariff preferences for transit transportation to Afghanistan by rail, taking into account Kazakhstan's significant flour export potential.
