Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State

Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Washington on April 7. The meeting was confirmed by the U.S. State Department.

According to official reports, the United States reaffirmed its support for Uzbekistan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The U.S. also emphasized its continued commitment to advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Deputy Secretary of State commended Uzbekistan’s efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as investment in civil nuclear energy, key mineral resources, and other sectors of the economy. He also expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s ongoing cooperation in addressing illegal immigration and counterterrorism efforts.

It is worth noting that earlier, during the opening ceremony of the European Union–Central Asia Research Centers Forum, Abdulaziz Kamilov—who also serves as the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy—stressed the importance of deepening strategic ties with the European Union amid the region’s growing geopolitical and economic significance.
