How many students in Uzbekistan study and work?

As of today, 114,505 students in Uzbekistan are officially employed, according to the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Employment.

The data shows that 62,691 students (54.7%) are employed by state organizations, 47,878 students (41.8%) work in private entities, and 3,936 students (3.5%) are employed in both sectors. Gender-wise, 67,099 (58.6%) of these students are male, while 47,406 (41.4%) are female.

In terms of regional distribution, the numbers are as follows:

  • Tashkent city: 36,135 students (31.6%)
  • Samarkand region: 9,931 students (8.7%)
  • Fergana region: 9,779 students (8.5%)
  • Tashkent region: 8,927 students (7.8%)
  • Kashkadarya region: 8,202 students (7.1%)
