Student drowns in “Borijar” canal of Tashkent

10084On June 19, a 20-year-old man was discovered dead in a canal running through Tashkent. This information was provided to QALAMPIR.UZ by Hayot Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office.
The victim, identified as M.I., was a third-year student at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, born in 2004. He and his friends F.G. and N.S. went to swim in the "Borijar" canal near Yunus Rajabiy Street in Yakkasaray District at around 12:10 PM. Due to the swift and cold current, M.I. drowned and was swept away before he could reach safety.
M.I.'s body was later found near the "Borijar" 4th hydroelectric power plant on Beshyogoch Street in Chilonzor District.
According to Shamsutdinov, the Chilonzor District Prosecutor's Office is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
