President Stubb commends Uzbekistan’s reforms during meeting with ambassador

Following the official ceremony, a meeting was held to discuss the current state of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Finland, as well as its future prospects.

President Alexander Stubb expressed full support for the wide-ranging reforms being carried out under the leadership of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He also emphasized Finland’s readiness to further expand bilateral relations in this direction. Additionally, President Stubb praised the evolving political dialogue and trade-economic relations between Helsinki and Tashkent, highlighting Uzbekistan’s important role in the region.

Temur Rahmonov is fluent in Russian, English, Polish, and Spanish. A graduate of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, he began his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. Over the years, he has held various positions in the ministry’s central office as well as in Uzbekistan’s embassies in Poland, Italy, and Spain. From 2017 to 2018, Rahmonov served as the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ regional department in Urgench and as the deputy governor of Khorezm Region, overseeing investments, innovations, privatization assistance, and the development of free economic and small industrial zones.

Last month, Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Slovakia, Baxtiyor Ibragimov (based in Vienna), presented his credentials to Slovakia’s President, Peter Pellegrini.
