Case was initiated against UzAuto Motors

A Gentra vehicle produced at the UzAuto Motors JSC factory caught fire due to a malfunction less than five months after its sale. In response to this incident, UzAuto Motors and its dealer have been issued instructions regarding legal violations in vehicle delivery. This information was reported by the press service of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights.

A citizen from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, A. D., reported to the Competition Committee that his 2023 "Lacetti L-Style MT," manufactured by UzAuto Motors JSC, caught fire less than five months after receipt. Despite this, the manufacturer has not resolved the issue promptly.

The Committee investigated the appeal and confirmed the situation. It was also discovered that similar fires had occurred with the same brand (model, type) of car in the Navoi region.

The Special Commission of the Committee has initiated proceedings against UzAuto Motors JSC and "PSM-AVTOSAVDO" LLC for violations of Articles 14 and 20 of the Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights."

The Committee, considering the potential risk to human life and health from car fires, has mandated that 37 vehicles of the same brand (model, type) be recalled and undergo a technical inspection within 10 days.

Additionally, it has been decided that the affected customer will receive a replacement vehicle of the same brand, and a penalty of one percent of the car price will be paid for each day missed from the time of the consumer's request.

We also remind you that it was previously established that the leaders and founders of the business entities involved in the state procurement of UzAuto Motors JSC for 1.3 billion soums are close relatives.
