Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run accident in Namangan (video)

On February 11, in Namangan city of the Namangan region, a Gentra driver struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. This incident was reported by the Road Safety Department of the regional Internal Affairs Department.

According to the report, the accident occurred at 06:40 on Amir Temur Street when an unidentified individual driving a Gentra hit a pedestrian crossing the road. The victim, a resident of Namangan city born in 1958, died at the scene due to the severe injuries sustained.

"A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigation Department under the Namangan City Internal Affairs Department under Part 2 of Article 117 (Leaving in Danger) and Part 2 of Article 266 (Violation of the Rules for the Safety of the Movement or Use of Vehicles) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan," the report states.

During the search operation, specialists are inspecting black Gentra cars to locate the driver involved in the fatal accident. The vehicles will be released after the inspections are completed.

The Road Safety Department has urged social media users not to misinterpret the ongoing search operation and the efforts made by law enforcement to find the driver responsible for the pedestrian's death.

It is worth noting that in a separate incident, a Gentra driver previously attempted to run over several pedestrians in Tashkent's Shaykhantohur district.
