Man jailed for 5 years after failed Tashkent bank robbery with toy gun

It was earlier reported that an unidentified person attacked the Turkiston Banking Service Center (BXM) with a fake gun. The individual has now been sentenced to five years in prison, Millar reported.

On April 18, a masked citizen attempted to rob the bank using a toy gun with its handle wrapped in black insulating tape. However, after bank employees triggered an emergency alarm, the National Guard quickly arrived at the scene, foiled the robbery, and arrested the suspect.

In court, the man claimed that the gun he used belonged to his grandson and was only a toy.

According to the court’s verdict, the man was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 164 (robbery) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to five years in prison. He will serve his term in a general-regime colony.

It should be noted that earlier, $90,000 was reported stolen from the account of Tenge Bank in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent.
