7002On September 22, Abdul Ghaffar Bahr, appointed by the Taliban as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan, arrived in Tashkent, as reported by "Shafaqna Afghanistan."
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban's interim government, Ambassador Bahr is expected to officially begin his duties in the coming days. He was welcomed by Mugfurullah Shahob, the previous head of the Afghan embassy in Uzbekistan, and Yodgorkhoja Shodmonov, who recently completed a 12-year term as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Afghanistan.
Earlier this year, in February, Uzbekistan officially handed over the Afghan embassy in Tashkent to Taliban diplomats. At that time, Mugfurullah Shahob replaced Ahmad Khalid Ilmi, who had been appointed ambassador by the former Afghan government. However, in April, Abdul Ghaffar Bahr was appointed as the new ambassador. In August, Zakir Jalali, director of the third political department of the Taliban’s interim government, confirmed that Abdul Ghaffar Bahr was introduced as Afghanistan’s official ambassador to Uzbekistan.
It’s worth noting that on August 17, Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited Kabul. During this visit, five agreements were signed between Uzbekistan and the Taliban's interim leadership.
