8942The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) unveiled its new flag at the 11th Summit of Heads of State in Bishkek, according to the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
The flag features an eight-pointed star, a crescent moon, and a sun with straight rays set against a blue background. The blue represents the clear sky, peace, and prosperity, symbolizing the unity of the Turkic peoples. This color holds cultural significance, traditionally associated with Turkish heritage and values.
The eight-pointed star, known as the Seljuk or Oghuz Star, has deep roots in Turkic and Islamic culture. It was a prominent symbol in the Seljuk and Ottoman empires, appearing on coins, architecture, and decorations, and represents virtues like compassion, loyalty, honesty, patience, and generosity. The star, also found on flags of some modern Turkic states, stands for unity and shared values.
The sun, with its forty straight rays, symbolizes enlightenment, openness, and vitality, illuminating the path forward for the Turkic world. It embodies the common values and vision leading OTS states toward a brighter future.
The crescent moon and star, widely recognized symbols of the Turkic world, signify Turkish statehood, progress, and aspiration. These elements highlight the dynamic and forward-looking spirit of the OTS, rooted in a rich shared history.
This flag is a unifying symbol of Turkic identity, heritage, and cooperation, aligning with the mission of the Organization of Turkic States.
Earlier today, on November 6, the OTS summit concluded with multiple agreements and multilateral documents signed by the member states.
