High-level talks: Tanzila Norbaeva hosts Georgian delegation

3101On March 4, a meeting was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis between Tanzila Norbaeva, the Senate Chairwoman, and a delegation led by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. This meeting was reported by the Senate's press service.
At the outset, Norbaeva emphasized that the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit marked a significant opportunity to open a new chapter in the development of close cooperative relations between the two countries.
“There is harmony in the national traditions of Uzbekistan and Georgia. Both nations are known for their hospitality and dedication to their homeland. In recent years, the bonds of friendship have been growing in line with ancient traditions, fostering mutual trust. The establishment of the Uzbekistan-Georgia Friendship Society and the operation of the Megobroba Cultural Center in Tashkent are evidence of this,” Norbaeva stated.
During the conversation, details about Uzbekistan's wide-ranging reforms within the framework of its "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy were shared with the Georgian delegation. Discussions underscored the importance of not only strengthening intergovernmental ties but also parliamentary relationships, exchanging legislative experiences, and utilizing untapped potential to maintain consistent collaboration.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze expressed Georgia's strong interest in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan and praised the achievements being made in various fields, emphasizing that the reforms led by Uzbekistan's leadership are yielding tangible results.
The dialogue also focused on enhancing collaboration in priority areas such as tourism, economy, electronics, agriculture, and transport communications. Both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral projects, exchanged views on new plans, and discussed the implementation of forward-looking initiatives.
Georgian parliamentary leaders expressed keen interest in participating in the upcoming 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uzbekistan. The two parties agreed to further strengthen their mutual support on international platforms.
It is also noteworthy that earlier today, Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze paid an official visit to Tashkent. Accompanied by Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, he visited the “New Uzbekistan” park and laid flowers at the Independence Monument.
