Uzbekistan becomes strategic partner with Georgia

Today, July 3, following talks held in a narrow format and with the participation of the official delegations of the two countries, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed a declaration on establishing strategic partnership relations. The Presidential Press Service reported this.
It was reported that a number of bilateral documents were also exchanged in the presence of the heads of delegations. These included:
- an agreement on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs matters;
- an agreement on cooperation in information and communication technologies and digitalization;
- an agreement on cooperation in vocational and higher education, science and innovation;
- a cooperation program between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of Georgia for 2026-2027;
- a cooperation program between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Culture of Georgia for 2027-2030;
- a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Finance of Georgia;
- a memorandum on cooperation in introducing the E-Permit information system for the exchange of permits;
- a memorandum of understanding in agriculture;
- a memorandum on cooperation in environmental protection;
- a memorandum of understanding in healthcare;
- a memorandum on cooperation and information exchange on radiation protection and nuclear safety;
- a memorandum of understanding in labor migration;
- a memorandum on cooperation in tourism.
As part of the visit, a memorandum on cooperation was also signed between the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
It is worth noting that Shavkat Mirziyoyev is currently in Georgia on a state visit. Yesterday, July 2, talks were held between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili at the Orbeliani Palace in Tbilisi. Also, as part of the events in Tbilisi, a ceremony was held to award Shavkat Mirziyoyev Georgia’s highest state honor — the Order of the Golden Fleece.
In addition, during talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held in a narrow format and with the participation of the official delegations of the two countries, a decision was made to establish the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Georgia.
