Today, July 3, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held talks in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegations of the two countries. The Presidential Press Service reported this.
It was noted that at the beginning of the meeting, the head of state emphasized that this state visit by the President of Uzbekistan to Georgia, the first in more than 20 years, is of special importance in bringing Uzbekistan-Georgia relations to a qualitatively new level.

The sides discussed issues of expanding practical cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, transport and transit, tourism, cultural and humanitarian areas.
The consistent development of dialogue at all levels was noted with satisfaction. The parties emphasized the importance of continuing active contacts between governments, parliaments and business circles, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Last year, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $270 million, while since the beginning of this year it has exceeded $100 million. The sides agreed to adopt a roadmap to increase this figure to $1 billion in the coming years, eliminate imbalances in trade, and boost supplies of high-demand goods between the two countries through mutual industrial exhibitions.
Issues of strengthening cooperation in transport and transit and creating favorable conditions for fully using the potential of this important area were discussed.

Special attention was paid to measures to actively use the infrastructure of the ports of Poti and Batumi for transporting Uzbek cargo. Plans to establish a logistics hub in Georgia, including an industrial zone and a showroom for Uzbek products, were supported.
The Uzbek leader welcomed the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. He proposed studying the possibility of connecting it with the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line currently under construction.
Industrial cooperation was identified as a separate priority area of partnership. The results of the joint business forum held the day before were highly praised. Following the forum, a Cooperation Program for the period until 2027 was signed.

Agreements were reached on implementing new projects in agriculture, electrical engineering and energy, pharmaceuticals, food and light industry, production of construction materials and development, digitalization, information technology, digital banking and tourism. It was proposed to establish a joint investment fund to support project initiatives.
Cultural and humanitarian ties are actively expanding. In March this year, Georgian Culture Days were successfully held in Tashkent.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the Georgian side for its decision to name one of the parks in Tbilisi after the great poet Alisher Navoi.
Joint education and tourism forums are planned to be held in Uzbekistan this year.
A decision was also made to establish the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Georgia.
A joint roadmap will be prepared to ensure the implementation of the agreements reached during the talks.
It is worth noting that Shavkat Mirziyoyev is currently in Georgia on a state visit. Yesterday, July 2, talks were held between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili at the Orbeliani Palace in Tbilisi. Also, as part of the events in Tbilisi, a ceremony was held to award Shavkat Mirziyoyev Georgia’s highest state honor — the Order of the Golden Fleece.
