President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov are expected to visit Georgia in July this year. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is currently on a working visit to Tajikistan, said this during a conversation with journalists on June 20.
Irakli Kobakhidze, who arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit, held a meeting with Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda. Afterward, while answering questions from Georgian journalists, he noted that deepening cooperation with Central Asian countries is of particular importance. According to the head of government, Georgia connects seven countries with the Black Sea and, through it, with the West. Therefore, fully using the country’s transit potential is important from a trade and economic perspective.
“In this regard, it is also important to further deepen our cooperation with Tajikistan. In addition, as you know, we recently visited Kyrgyzstan and will soon visit Kazakhstan as well. In July, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will come to Georgia,” the Prime Minister said.
According to Kobakhidze, there is very positive momentum in Georgia’s relations with Central Asia. All of this will contribute to further developing the country’s transit role, and major investments are being made for this purpose.
He also noted that the country attaches great importance to developing relations with neighboring states.
“As you know, we have excellent relations with Azerbaijan, Armenia and Türkiye. We are also developing ties with Central Asian countries as much as possible. Based on these processes, Georgia will make significant progress in realizing its economic potential. This is one of our main priorities,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Earlier, in August 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his working visit to Turkmenistan.
In March 2025, Irakli Kobakhidze visited Tashkent on an official visit. At that time, Shavkat Mirziyoyev also received the delegation led by Kobakhidze. During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economy, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and culture.
