8970According to the results of the elections for deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils held on October 27, Tanzila Norboeva, who has served as the chairman of the Senate since 2019, has been elected to the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies. This was announced in the relevant decision by the regional election commission of Tashkent city.
Nominated by the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Norboeva was elected as a deputy from the 13th Sebzor electoral district.
Among the newly elected deputies in the 50-seat City Council are Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov and People's Artist of Uzbekistan Yodgor Sa'diev, both nominated by UzLiDeP.
Tanzila Norboeva was born in Andijan in 1956 and moved to Tashkent in the mid-1970s. She graduated from Tashkent State University in 1981. From 1975 to 1995, she worked as a school teacher, deputy director, and director of the Tashkent City School of Education, later holding various responsible positions within state bodies at different levels.
From 1995 to 2010, she served as the head of the Secretariat for the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the head of the Secretariat for the Head of the Complex of Social Protection of Family, Motherhood, and Childhood, and as a leading and chief specialist in the Information and Analysis Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, focusing on education, health, and social protection.
From 2010 to 2016, she was the Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan. Subsequently, from 2016 until June 21, 2019, she held the position of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan. Since 2019, she has served as the chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
She is married and has two daughters.
Before the election, several prominent candidates were nominated to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, including Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev from UzLiDeP, candidate for Minister of Preschool and School Education Hilola Umarova, Minister of Culture Ozodek Nazarbekov from the Democratic Party "National Revival," Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov from the SDP "Adolat," Deputy Prime Minister Zulayho Mahkamova from the PDP, and Digital Technologies Minister Sherzod Shermatov, along with the candidate for Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abduhakimov from the Ecological Party. However, none of these candidates were elected as deputies.
