18656On September 1, a sulfur gas leak occurred in a mine located in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region. The Ministry of Emergency Situations provided details on the incident.
At 3:17 p.m., hydrogen sulfide gas was released due to a violation of technological procedures during drilling operations in well No. 604 at the "25th Year of Independence" mine, situated in the "Kolkamish" neighborhood of the district.
To ensure public safety, residents living near the mine were evacuated to a secure area.
There were no reported injuries or fatalities.
"The situation is under full control. There is no need for panic," the ministry stated.
According to the Surkhandarya regional government, the head of the region, Ulugbek Kasimov, along with officials from relevant organizations, agencies, and departments, has arrived at the site.
Currently, assessments of air pollution levels in the affected area are being conducted, and efforts are underway to resolve the situation.
